A quick and easy tip to start your book marketing week: if you’ve not yet heard about IndieReCon, the free online conference run for authors, by authors, head over to its website now to register: www.indierecon.org.
This week, from Wednesday 15th to Friday 17th April, as part of the London Book Fair Fringe Festival, IndieReCon will be bringing together leading indie authors and other relevant experts from around the world to share their best advice online, for free, with the self-publishing authors everywhere. There will be informative talks, stimulating discussion panels, and a million and one great tips from successful authors, all brought to you across the ether, so that you can benefit from these gurus’ advice wherever you are in the world.
To whet your appetite for the calibre of speaker and advice that is yet to come, Joanna Penn gives a taste of what’s to come in her latest post for the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi).
As for me, I’ll be chairing the discussion panel on public funding for authors on Friday and also launching a new ALLi campaign hashtagged #Authors4Bookstores, which will be encouraging and enabling authors and bricks-and-mortar booksellers to work more closely together to mutual benefit.
Bonus Free Event at Foyles’ Charing Cross Road, London, Branch
And if you happen to be in London this Friday (17th April), do come and see us at Foyles any time after 4.30pm. The last day of the conference will be streamed live from Foyles, and after all that’s over, we’re holding a fab Indie Author Fair, where 50 indie authors, myself included, will be setting up a pop-up shop – a great opportunity to network with other writers in the flesh for a couple of hours! Admission to the Indie Author Fair is free – just come along to Foyles’ flagship Charing Cross Road store and head for the top floor. If you make it, do come and say hello – I’d love to catch up with you there!
